New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced 18 match officials for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to begin on June 12 in England and Wales. This will be the third consecutive edition of the tournament to feature an all-women panel of match officials, underlining the ICC’s continued push for greater representation in cricket.
India will have four representatives among the officials selected for the global event.
GS Lakshmi has been named one of the four match referees for the tournament. In the umpiring panel, India will be represented by Vrinda Rathi, Janani N., and Gayathri Venugopalan.
The ICC has appointed four match referees and 14 umpires in total for the 33-match tournament. Officials will oversee games across England and Wales throughout the competition.
The upcoming edition will mark a World Cup debut for Gayathri Venugopalan. Other first-time tournament officials include Candace La Borde, Kerrin Klaaste and Shathira Jakir Jesy.
At the same time, several experienced names have been retained. Australia’s Claire Polosak will take charge of her sixth Women’s T20 World Cup, having already officiated 22 matches in previous editions. Jacquline Williams and Kim Cotton will each stand in their fifth tournament appearances.
Among referees, GS Lakshmi returns after participating in the 2024 edition, alongside Shandrr Fritz and Michell Pereira. New Zealand’s Trudy Anderson completes the referee group.
ICC Chief Executive Officer Sanjog Gupta said the selection reflects the governing body’s focus on expanding opportunities across all areas of the sport. He added that appointments are based on a comprehensive evaluation of officials’ performance and decision-making standards.
According to the ICC, nine officials from the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup have retained their positions for the 2026 edition, highlighting continuity alongside fresh inclusions in the panel.
