Gurugram: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday served a showcause notice to the Ryan International School's Bhondsi branch, where a Class II student was found murdered last week, seeking an explanation why the school's affiliation should not be revoked.

The school has been asked to respond within 15 days.

The CBSE official said, "The next action of the board will be taken after examining the reply."

The two-member committee report, in case of the murder case, has been received by the CBSE and is being examined in the light of prescribed guidelines and violations thereof.

Flagging several violations of the board's safety guidelines by the school, the CBSE said the murder could have been averted had the school authorities discharged their duty and responsibility with care and sincerity.

"The school management also failed to inform police and education department regarding incident of death of the child, which shows negligence on the part of school administration. The incident of death of the student was reported to the Police Authorities by the parent," the show cause notice read.

The board further said that sufficient CCTV cameras at prominent places have not been installed as per our guidelines.

"Most of the CCTV cameras installed in the school building are not functioning," the board noted.
