In an attempt to give voice to the 20 million orphans in India, the brother and sister duo Amand Shukla and Poulomi Pavini have come out with their debut book, ‘Weakest on Earth-Orphans of India’. Published by Bloomsbury, the book is essentially an appeal –a submission to the State of India to correct an injustice done to its most vulnerable and least influential citizens.
The book raises a very serious but equally neglected issue of our society and the country. The book presents facts and discusses what the Indian government has been doing for orphans and street children. It pinpoints that Indian government announced some program for orphans after six decades of Independence, but that program has not sufficient fund allocation that can match the size of the problem.
