New Delhi: Manoj Tibrewal Aakash, Editor-in-Chief, Dynamite News, had an exclusive conversation with Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala, CEO of Wockhardt Foundation, who has been providing medical facilities in rural areas of the country through mobile medical vans.

Question: What all you are carrying out through the Wockhardt Foundation nowadays?

Answer: We are conducting mobile medical vans equipped with doctors and medicines and serving various patients. These vans move from village to village and provide free medical facilities. At present we have 200 vans serving petients in 20 states of India. So far we have treated about 4 million people.

Question: Please explain, how your organization works through mobile medical vans?

Answer: In each mobile van we have one MBBS doctor, along with a pharmacist and of course a driver. These vans cover 20 villages in a week. Doctors see about 90 patients a day which comes to about 25 thousand in a year. In fact, there is still a huge shortage of health services in India especially in rural areas. So these vans are doing a helpful job.

Question: Which major donors are associated with your Foundation?

Answer: We have GAIL and Kotak Bank with us. Besides many others are also helping us in this noble work.
