New Delhi: Millions and millions of people, including top leaders of various political parties, remembered Lord Jesus on Good Friday.
Good Friday marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. It is held as part of the Paschal Triduum, or the Three Days, that closes with the evening prayer on Easter Sunday.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Mallikarjan Kharge and former President Rahul Gandhi greeted people on the occasion of Good Friday.
Vice President Dhankhar wrote in a tweet, “Good Friday reminds us of the great sacrifice made by Jesus Christ for humanity. Let us take a pledge on this day to follow the path of compassion, kindness and forgiveness shown by Lord Jesus.
Extending his greetings, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla wrote in a tweet, “Good Friday is a day to express gratitude and bow our heads before the Almighty. It gives us an opportunity to reiterate our faith in the eternal virtues of love, kindness and peace. Today, let us rededicate ourselves to the service of humanity and spread the message of compassion, harmony and brotherhood."
PM Narendra Modi recalled the spirit of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He tweeted, “Today on Good Friday, we remember the spirit of sacrifice that Lord Christ had. He endured pain and suffering, but he never deviated from his ideals of service and compassion. May the thoughts of Lord Christ continue to inspire people. Mr Kharge said, “On Good Friday, let the spirit of compassion, forgiveness and empathy guide us. May kindness, peace and humanity surround us."
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi shared his thoughts on the “spirit of self sacrifice”. “On this Good Friday, may we be blessed with peace, compassion for our fellow beings and the spirit of self sacrifice,” he tweeted.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal extended his wishes for Good Friday by remembering the teachings of Jesus Christ. He also hoped for Christ’s sacrifice to inspire everyone. (with Agency inputs)
