New Delhi: The President Droupadi Murmu, on Tuesday, conferred the prestigious National Sports Awards on country's top-performing players in a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Cricketer Mohammed Shami received the Arjuna Award from President Murmu for his brilliant contribution to Indian cricket and young sensation Sheetal Devi, the first international para-archer without upper limbs.

The list features 26 Asian Games heroes like Aditi Gopichand Swami, Sreeshankar Murali, Parul Chaudhary, Esha Singh and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar among others. 

Badminton duo Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy were presented the coveted Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award for a breakout 2023, during which they won their maiden Asian Games gold-a first for India in badminton-, while also clinching the Asian Championships title and the Indonesia Open Super 1000 title.
