Mumbai: The rupee depreciated 7 paise to 66.97 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the domestic currency had extended gains for the second straight day by moving up another 3 paise to close at 66.90 against US dollar.
In the meantime, the benchmark BSE Sensex recovered by 109.11 points, or 0.38 per cent, to 28,264.67 in the opening trade. (With PTI inputs)
