Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday announced to open an office in the financial capital of the country to protect the interest of thousands of UP natives residing in Mumbai .

A UP government spokesperson said that during the Covid-19 lockdown, when lakhs of migrants from Maharashtra and other states returned to UP, the government felt it necessary to have a representative in the states where maximum people from UP are staying to ensure their wellbeing and assist them in crisis.

This office, he said, will help people return to UP in case of any crisis. Besides it will also help them get suitable work here according to their experience and ability.

"In addition to this, migrants living in Mumbai will be made aware of the possibilities of investing in tourism, culture and other sectors in UP and they will be motivated to set up enterprises here. A favourable and attractive business environment will also be provided to them," the spokesman said.
