New Delhi: A controversial post by Adhav Arjuna, a senior leader of Tamil actor Vijay's political organization, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), has sparked political turmoil. In the post, he urged Tamil Nadu's "Generation Z" youth to revolt against the "evil government" like the youth of Nepal. This post came after 41 people lost their lives in a massive stampede during a rally in Karur. The post was later deleted, but its impact remains.

Stampede Political Controversy

Following the Karur tragedy, the Dr. Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has called the post "irresponsible." Lok Sabha MP Kanimozhi said the post could incite violence. Meanwhile, the DMK has accused Vijay and his organization of attempting to demonstrate their political power and claiming that the stampede was a result of the DMK's failure to follow safety measures.

Demand for Elimination of TVK

TVK has distanced itself from the post, stating that the party or Vijay would never incite violence. Adhav Arjuna has also filed a petition in the Madras High Court, requesting that Vijay not be prevented from meeting the families of the deceased in Karur. He has also demanded that the investigation into the stampede be handed over to the central government agency, the CBI, to ensure a fair investigation.

What Was Written In Controversial Post?

Arjuna wrote in his post, "A youth-led rebellion is the only solution. In Sri Lanka and Nepal, Generation Z rebelled against the government. Youth will revolt here too." He also accused the Tamil Nadu police of beating people for walking on the streets and arresting those who express their opinions on social media.

Political Accusations And Upcoming Elections

Following the Karur Stampede, accusations and counter-accusations continue between the DMK and the TVK. The TVK accused the ruling party of conspiring, citing a power outage to destabilize the crowd. The DMK, however, rejected the allegations, stating that the TVK failed to comply with safety standards. Chief Minister MK Stalin has formed an investigation committee and stated that action will be taken upon receipt of the report.
