Weather: Heavy rains and thunderstorms lash Chennai; IMD issues orange alert

Chennai: The weather in Chennai turned pleasant on Friday morning amid strong thunderstorms and heavy rains. Because of the rains, several people are facing troubles. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in many areas of Tamil Nadu. An orange alert has been issued, especially in the Cuddalore, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts. Chennai's Marina Beach, Egmore, Nungambakkam and Guindy areas have also received a lot of rain.

Chennai Meteorological Department Statement

The Chennai Meteorological Department said that Nungambakkam, Adyar, Raja Annamalaipuram and Vadapalani have received 4-5 cm of rain since morning. The temperature of the whole city is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is 27-28 degrees. Light to moderate rain may also occur in other parts of Tamil Nadu.

Heavy Rain In Other States

Heavy rain is also expected in other states. According to the IMD, heavy rains may occur in Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Goa and Konkan in the next 24 hours.

Rainfall in Mumbai has also caused waterlogging and traffic problems. In addition, we anticipate heavy rains in Puducherry, Kerala, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.

Delhi May Get Relief From Rain

Delhi got some relief from rain on Thursday. The maximum temperature here was recorded at 34.8 degrees, and the humidity remained at 68 percent. The Meteorological Department has also predicted light rain and thunderstorms on Friday. Delhi's air quality is also fine now.

Weather Forecast: IMD issues red alert in Mumbai today; Heavy rain in several states

Many states of North and East India may receive heavy rains between August 22 and 24. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir are also expected to receive rain and stormy weather.
