New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed Skyroot Aerospace's maiden orbital mission, Vikram-1, calling it a "historic new frontier" in India's space journey.
The launch, scheduled for 11:30 am from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, marks a major milestone for India's rapidly expanding private space sector.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said the mission reflects the talent, determination and entrepreneurial spirit of India's youth. He added that recent reforms in the country's space sector have opened new avenues for innovation and private enterprise.

The Prime Minister extended his best wishes to the Skyroot Aerospace team and expressed hope that Vikram-1 would create history and inspire the next generation of innovators. He also urged people, especially young Indians, to follow the mission using the hashtag #IndiaWithVikram1.
Named after Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the father of India's space programme, Vikram-1 is India's first privately developed orbital launch vehicle. The seven-storey rocket has been designed to place satellites into a 450-km Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

A successful launch would make India the third country, after the United States and China, to have a private company capable of conducting orbital launches.
Skyroot Aerospace aims to simplify satellite launches by offering what it describes as a "cab service to space," allowing customers to book dedicated launch services for satellites and other payloads.
