New Delhi: You might love posting your favorite videos on social media platforms. While Instagram and YouTube allow videos over 90 seconds, WhatsApp restricts them to 60 seconds. Sometimes, you trim the best part of your video or post it in another status.

Meta plans to increase WhatsApp's status time limit from 60 to 90 seconds, allowing users to post videos of up to 90 seconds instead of 60 seconds, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Who can access it?

Beta users can access this service immediately by updating their app on the Google Play Store. According to WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp tracking site, WhatsApp is reportedly lifting restrictions on status updates to enhance user experience.

The recent release of WhatsApp beta version 2.25.12.9 for Android has enabled users to share video status updates with a duration of up to 90 seconds.

What's the need for it?

This update is based on the previous year's update, in which Meta had increased the duration of WhatsApp status from 30 to 60 seconds. The users also appreciated the update. After receiving the positive feedback, Meta has updated this feature again.

The longer limit has reduced the effort required for manually trimming or cutting the video to fit the status duration.

The feature will be introduced in phases, which means it is currently accessible only to Beta users. Additionally, Meta intends to enhance the privacy of WhatsApp status by implementing end-to-end encryption.
