WhatsApp’s new voicemail feature: Now you can send voice messages if you don’t receive a call

New Delhi: WhatsApp is constantly engaged in bringing new and better features for its users. After recently introducing the feature of call scheduling, WhatsApp has now started testing another new feature, which has been named Voicemail. This feature will prove to be a very useful option for those missed calls, when you call someone and that person is unable to receive the call.

According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has added this new voicemail feature to its Android beta update. At present, this feature is available only to select beta testers.

After the arrival of this feature, when a user calls someone and the call is not received, a third option 'Record Voicemail' will also appear on the call screen along with the 'Cancel' and 'Call Again' buttons.

By clicking on this button, the user can immediately record a voice message, which will be sent immediately to the person who did not receive the call. The receiver can later listen to that voice message at his convenience.

This feature will work just like the voicemail feature of traditional phone calls, but the special thing in this is that it will be directly connected to the call interface. Although WhatsApp already has the option to send voice messages, this new feature will clarify the context of the call, that is, the receiver will know in response to which call this voice message has been sent.

Apart from this, WhatsApp is working on another new feature 'Missed Call Reminder'. With its help, users will be able to set reminders for missed calls. WhatsApp will send them a notification at the scheduled time, so that they do not forget to call back. This feature will be exactly like what is already available for chat messages in WhatsApp.

Meta aims to keep WhatsApp not just a simple chatting app, but to develop it as a complete calling and messaging platform. Features like call scheduling have already made it useful for professional work, and now options like voicemail and Missed Call Reminder will make it even more convenient.

However, the testing version of this feature is not yet available for iOS users, nor has its official launch date been announced.
