YouTube launched AI-powered search feature; Full details inside

New AI search carousel feature is currently made available to some YouTube Premium users in the US.

New Delhi: YouTube has launched a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) based search feature on its platform. This feature has been named AI Search Carousel, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Its purpose is to provide better and more accurate information to the users, so that they can understand the content of the video even before watching it.

How This New Feature Work?

According to YouTube, new AI search carousel feature is currently made available to some YouTube Premium users in the US. When a user searches for shopping, travel or a particular place, he sees a new interface on the search results page. It has a large video clip at the top and some small video thumbnails below it. Also, every video is accompanied by a text description that has been generated by AI.

Who Get This Feature?

1. This AI search carousel is currently available only to YouTube Premium users.
2. Currently, this feature is working only for English language videos on Android and iOS devices in the US.
3. This trial will run till 30 July this year, after that YouTube can also launch it for other countries and users.

AI Based Conversational Tool

Along with this YouTube has also expanded its conversational AI feature. Now this feature has also been made available to some non-premium users. Users can use this tool by tapping on the Sparkle icon appearing in the line of Like, Share and Download buttons on the video screen.

This AI feature is based on Google Gemini. Through this, users can ask questions related to the video or get recommendations of other related videos. Currently it is working only on Android devices.

In its blog post YouTube said that this feature has been introduced to improve user experience. The search carousel feature is beneficial for those users who want to quickly understand the content of video and decide whether it is useful for them or not without watching it.
