The Centre on Thursday extended the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 or AFSPA in Nagaland for another six months, mentioning that the state is in such a “disturbed and dangerous condition” that the use of armed forces in aid of the civil power is necessary.
Amid intense debate about the need to amend provisions of the law related to the Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he wants a country where there will be ‘no need’ for AFSPA but such a thing can be ensured only depending on the situation.
