Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister Dr L Murugan visited the Government Medical College and Hospital in Karur, where those injured in the stampede are being treated.
11 people were killed and over 50 injured in the chaos caused by the overcrowding. Ten of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and have been admitted to a nearby government hospital.
