Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar arrived at the CBI office in Shillong on Saturday morning for questioning by the probe agency in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam.
Lauding the Supreme Court’ verdict directing that Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar cannot be arrested by the CBI, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Tuesday it is a moral victory.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is on a sit-in over the CBI’s attempt to question the Kolkata Police commissioner in connection with chit fund scams, Monday said she will continue her “satyagraha” till the country and its Constitution are “saved”.
The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to give an urgent hearing to applications moved by the CBI alleging destruction of electronic evidence related to the Saradha chit fund scam case by the Kolkata Police commissioner.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday defended Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, who recently came under scrutiny after skipping a meeting with the Election Commission of India (ECI) and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of indulging in the “worst kind of political vendetta”.
