Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on Saturday called the decision of the Karnataka government to give minority status to Lingayat community as a strategy to ‘polarise votes’.
Following the declaration of minority status to the Lingayat and Veerashaiva communities, the State government wrote to the Centre recommending the official recognition of the two communities as religious minorities.
