Ambulance stuck in NH-48 traffic jam for four hours, woman dies en route to Mumbai hospital
Chhaya Purav, a 49-year-old woman from Maharashtra’s Palghar district, died after her ambulance became stuck in a heavy traffic jam on the national highway NH-48 for four hours. The incident occurred when a tree branch fell on her near her home, causing her to be gravely injured. Purav was referred to Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai, which lacks a trauma center in Palghar. The ambulance, which was carrying her, became trapped in the traffic jam, leaving her in excruciating pain. She was pronounced dead at Orbit Hospital, about 30 km from Hinduja Hospital. Her husband, Kaushik, claimed that if she had arrived at the hospital sooner, her life might have been saved.
