In a significant political move ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav will kick-start the party’s campaign with a mega rally in Dadri.

Noida: Akhilesh Yadav is set to kick-start the Samajwadi Party’s campaign for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections with a major rally in Dadri, Gautam Buddha Nagar, on March 29.
The rally, titled “Samajwadi Samanta Bhaichara Rally,” will be held at Mihir Bhoj College ground and is being seen as a strategic move by the Samajwadi Party to strengthen its presence in Western Uttar Pradesh—particularly in regions where the party was once considered weak.
Marking a significant shift from past political narratives, the choice of Noida as the launchpad is noteworthy. During the SP Government (2012–2017), it was widely believed that sitting chief ministers avoided visiting Noida due to a perceived “jinx” of losing the subsequent elections.
Akhilesh Yadav said on Thursday, “The place from where we are starting our rally, people usually say is the Samajwadi Party’s weakest region. But we have a Rajya Sabha MP, MLC and other key leaders from that particular region. This time, we aim to achieve the best results from that region, which is why we are starting our campaign in the West.”
The event will prominently highlight the party’s PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) strategy-a social coalition of backward classes, Dalits, and minorities. This formula played a crucial role in the party securing 111 seats in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and delivering a strong performance with 37 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
With this rally, Akhilesh Yadav aims to signal an aggressive start to the 2027 campaign and project confidence in achieving “historic results” in Western Uttar Pradesh.
The last time the SP made a major foray into Noida was during the 2012 campaign when it kicked off its second phase of polling activities here. The outcome was historic: Mulayam Singh Yadav’s party secured a landslide victory, winning 224 seats and installing Akhilesh as the youngest chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Many within the party now see the 2026 Noida rally as an attempt to recreate that 2012 magic while deliberately breaking the jinx to signal a new beginning.
