Lucknow: Former IAS officer Divya Mittal has officially announced her entry into politics. A day after weeks of speculation over her future plans, Mittal released a video message on September 29 and said she would continue her public journey from Uttar Pradesh.
However, she clarified that she is not joining any political party at present. Instead, she said she plans to build a platform with the participation of people and raise issues related to the public.
In her video message, Divya Mittal said that after resigning from the IAS, many people wanted to know about her next step. Responding to those questions, she said she has decided to enter politics because she wants to work on issues faced by common citizens.

She said her aim is not just to become a politician but to represent people whose problems often remain unresolved despite reaching government departments.
Divya Mittal referred to several incidents from her administrative tenure while explaining her decision. She highlighted issues related to education, roads, housing and basic facilities in rural areas.
She mentioned the example of a woman from a remote village who had demanded a school for children instead of personal benefits. According to Mittal, despite approval, the project faced delays, raising questions about implementation and administrative priorities.
She also spoke about the difficulties faced by a landless person who had received a government land allotment but allegedly struggled to get possession despite having official documents.
The former IAS officer also highlighted challenges faced by young people, including examination delays, paper leaks and employment concerns. She said the future of youth needs greater attention amid rapid technological changes and increasing use of artificial intelligence.
She questioned whether political discussions are focusing enough on long-term issues affecting the next generation.
Mittal said she is not entering politics with the backing of any political party. She said her focus would be on creating a platform where people can openly raise their concerns.
She also spoke about challenges in electoral politics, including the influence of money, power and identity-based equations, saying she wants to rely on public support instead.
Divya Mittal was a 2013-batch IAS officer. During her career, she served in various positions in Uttar Pradesh, including postings in Mirzapur, Sant Kabir Nagar and Deoria.
She studied at IIT Delhi and completed an MBA from IIM Bengaluru. Before joining the civil services, she worked abroad. After around 13 years in administrative service, she resigned from the IAS, and her resignation was accepted in September 2026.
With her political entry, Divya Mittal has become one of the former bureaucrats to step into public life in Uttar Pradesh.
