Ballia: Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh on Tuesday expressed concern following an Income Tax Department raid at the residence of Rasra MLA Umashankar Singh in Ballia.

Reacting to the development, Dinesh Pratap Singh said that any adverse impact on the MLA’s health during this period would raise serious questions. He pointed out that Umashankar Singh has been battling severe health issues for a prolonged period.

Family members claim that the legislator has been struggling for his life for over two years and is currently living in isolation at his residence. Due to his condition, he has reportedly been unable to attend Assembly sessions, and most of his business operations have remained shut. Sources close to the family said his focus remains solely on medical treatment and recovery.

Relatives also questioned the timing of the action, stating that even medical professionals have restricted access to him because of his fragile health.

The Income Tax Department has not yet issued an official statement regarding the reason or scope of the raid. Further details are awaited.
