A shocking late-night murder in Greater Noida has triggered outrage after 28-year-old Deepak Nagar was shot dead on his way to work, prompting villagers to block roads and demand swift justice.
Greater Noida: A wave of anger swept through Greater Noida’s Vaidhpura village after 28-year-old Deepak Nagar was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne attackers late Wednesday night. The murder triggered massive outrage among villagers, who placed the victim’s body on the road and blocked traffic while demanding immediate arrests and strict action against the accused.
The atmosphere in the village remained tense as heavy police deployment was made to prevent the situation from escalating further. Villagers accused authorities of failing to curb rising crime and demanded swift justice in the case.
According to police, Deepak Nagar worked night shifts at a factory in Delhi’s Ghazipur area. On Wednesday night around 10:30 pm, he left home on his motorcycle for work when three armed assailants allegedly intercepted him on the way.
Witnesses said the attackers opened fire indiscriminately, leaving the victim critically injured on the roadside. Around six rounds were reportedly fired during the attack, with bullets striking Deepak in the head and back.
Hearing the gunshots, nearby residents rushed to the spot and informed his family members. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The incident left family members devastated, while panic spread across the village.
Police Probe Points to Old Rivalry
Police officials said preliminary investigation suggests that the murder may be linked to an old personal rivalry. Family members of the deceased have reportedly named certain suspects, and multiple police teams have been formed to trace the accused.
Senior officers claimed that raids were underway and the culprits would be arrested soon. CCTV footage and local intelligence are also being examined as part of the investigation.
Villagers Demand Strict Action
Following the murder, villagers gathered in large numbers and warned of a bigger protest if the accused were not arrested quickly. Many protesters demanded an “encounter” action against those involved in the killing.
Authorities have appealed for calm while maintaining a strong security presence in the area. Police officials said the situation remains under control, though tensions continue to run high in the village after the shocking murder.
