New Delhi: Fresh details have emerged in the alleged murder of a domestic help in South Delhi's Mount Kailash area, with investigators claiming that dermatologist Dr. Manish Gupta had been battling severe mental health issues for years before the incident.

According to police, the 50-year-old doctor, who was undergoing treatment for depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) for nearly a decade, had reportedly been experiencing disturbing and violent thoughts in the days leading up to the crime.

"He was struggling mentally and having violent thoughts. He was contemplating whether he should kill his wife, son or himself," a senior police officer said.

Investigators believe that Dr. Gupta's mental health condition, coupled with recurring disagreements with his wife over their long-time domestic help Meena, may have formed the backdrop to the alleged killing.

Dynamite News reached the spot and spoke with Delhi High Court lawyer A.K. Vashisht, a close friend of the accused.

Expressing shock over the incident, Vashisht said he never imagined that his old friend could be involved in such a crime. He added that the matter remains under investigation. According to him, the accused has admitted to the crime, and the court has sent him to two days of judicial custody.

Members of the residential society also expressed disbelief. A security guard told Dynamite News that Dr. Gupta regularly visited doctors for treatment and was known as a sincere and well-behaved person.

Domestic Help at the Centre of a Long-Running Dispute

Meena, 45, had been working at the Gupta family's residence for more than 15 years and was considered a trusted member of the household.

Police sources said Dr. Gupta had wanted to remove her from service for the past few years, but his wife strongly opposed the move. Investigators claim the issue became a recurring source of disagreement between the couple.

"He and his wife had been quarrelling about firing Meena as he did not want her to work there. However, she insisted that Meena continue as she had been very helpful and caring about the family," a police official said.

Meena had reportedly stood by the family during difficult times, including when Dr. Gupta's mother was undergoing treatment for cancer before her death around one-and-a-half years ago.

Police are continuing their investigation to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the circumstances that led to the alleged crime.
