Panic spread across Maharajganj’s Dhani market after rumours of a fuel price hike led to a sudden rush at petrol pumps. People queued up with bottles and containers, causing temporary supply disruptions.
Maharajganj: Rumors of a petrol and diesel price hike in Maharajganj's Dhani Bazaar caused a stir. A large number of people flocked to petrol pumps to fill up their gallons and bottles. The sudden surge in footfall led to long queues at many pumps, and in some places, fuel was temporarily out of stock.
Petrol pump owners clarified that there was no fuel shortage. They said that some nearby pumps were dry and the pressure was increased due to the large number of customers arriving at the same time, which impacted supply. They stated that regular oil supply was continuing, and the situation was being restored with the cooperation of the administration.
According to pump operators, delivery times are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Supply resumes in the afternoon, and the situation is gradually returning to normal.
Local residents complained that they were unable to find petrol even after traveling long distances, which increased the inconvenience. The administration appealed to the public to ignore rumors and maintain peace.
