There is no place of poverty in 'New India', says President Kovind

On the occasion of Independence eve, President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the nation for the first time. He said that it is our national pledge to achieve important goals to make a 'New India'.

New Delhi: Newly elected President Ram Nath Kovind has addreseed the nation on the ocaasion of Independence day.

Presiend said on Monday that there is no place of poverty in 'New India'. It is our national pledge to achieve important goals to make a 'New India', he added. 

Highlights of the addressing: 

1. It is responsibility of each one of us to promote sense of pride in paying taxes.

2. We should pay special attention to our divyang brothers and sisters.

3. Glad that people of the country have accepted GST happily.

4. Government can make, implement and strengthen laws but it is everyone's duty to abide by them.

5. Government has started Swachch Bharat campaign but it is the duty of each one of us to keep the nation clean.

6. It is time that we must take inspiration from those who gave their lives for the nation and move forward.

7. We are indebted to those who laid down there lives for our independence.

8. On PM's appeal more than 1 Cr families voluntarily gave up LPG subsidy so that a gas cylinder could reach kitchen of a poorer family.

9. New India must include that integral humanist component that is in our DNA, and which has defined our country and our civilization.

10. Mahatma Gandhi focused on the character building of nation and society, his ideals are relevant today as well.
