New Delhi: Harley-Davidson has created a stir in the Indian mid-weight cruiser segment with the launch of its new X440 T. With an ex-showroom price of 2.79 lakh, this bike directly challenges the Royal Enfield Classic 350, which has become even more affordable after GST 2.0. The X440 T's modern styling and high-tech features are attracting young riders, while the Classic 350 remains a best-selling bike due to its reliability and retro design.

Price and Positioning: Which offers more value?

The top model of the Harley X440 T is approximately 63,000 more expensive than the Chrome variant of the Classic 350. This difference can be considered significant, especially for budget-conscious buyers.

The Classic 350 reaches a larger consumer base due to its price and is a mass-market bike, while the X440 T is positioned for premium segment riders where technology, performance, and brand value are priorities.

Performance: Which one is more powerful?

The X440 T is equipped with a 440cc single-cylinder engine that produces 27 hp of power and 38 Nm of torque. This torque, available at 4000 RPM, provides excellent performance on the highway. It comes with a 6-speed gearboxwhich makes acceleration smoother and improves fuel economy.

The Classic 350, on the other hand, has a 349cc J-series engine, which delivers 20.2 hp and 27 Nm of torque. This bike is great for comfortable city ridingbut it doesn't offer the same power and stability as the Harley on the highway. Its 5-speed gearbox is basic but reliable.

Hardware and Ride Quality: Which is More Stable?

The Harley X440 T features 43mm KYB USD shocks, which are usually found on high-performance bikes. Its larger tires (front 100/90 R18, rear 140/70 R17) provide excellent grip on the highway.

The Classic 350 comes with telescopic forks which are comfortable but less advanced in terms of technology.

Both are similar in weight, the Classic 350 weighs 195kg and the X440 T weighs 192kg.

Features and Technology: Which is More Modern?

The X440 T is ahead in terms of features. It offers:

  • Two ride modes
  • Traction control
  • Switchable rear ABS

These features make the ride safer and more controlled, especially on the highway.

The Classic 350 comes with Dual-Channel ABS and Tripper Navigation (optional). Its semi-digital instrument cluster maintains a retro look but lacks advanced technology.
