New Delhi: Japanese two-wheeler giant Honda has patented its first-ever electric sports motorcycle, the Honda WN7, in India, triggering fresh speculation about the company’s EV plans for the country. The upcoming model is believed to be the production-ready version of the Honda EV Fun concept that was showcased globally in November 2024.

The patent filing hints that Honda is evaluating the motorcycle for future markets, although an India launch still appears uncertain at this stage.

Sharp Futuristic Styling With Premium Elements

The patented images reveal a radical naked streetfighter-inspired design with futuristic bodywork and sharp lines. The motorcycle features a sculpted tank-like upper section that neatly integrates the battery pack and frame beneath a single-piece body panel.

At the front, the WN7 gets a wide LED daytime running light with vertically stacked headlamps, giving it a robotic appearance. Other notable styling highlights include bar-end circular mirrors, a wide handlebar, a single-piece stepped seat and a clean monocoque-style rear subframe.

Honda has also equipped the bike with a single-sided swingarm, enhancing both visual appeal and mechanical packaging.

Performance Comparable To 600 cc Bikes

The Honda WN7 is powered by a single electric motor producing 50.4 kW power and 100 Nm of peak torque. Honda claims the performance is comparable to a 600 cc sports motorcycle.

The electric bike draws power from a 9.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that delivers a claimed range of 130 km on a full charge. It supports CCS2 fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 20 to 80% in less than 30 minutes. The motorcycle weighs 217 kg.

India Launch Still Uncertain

In the UK market, the Honda WN7 carries a starting price of GBP 12,999, which roughly converts to Rs 16.74 lakh. While the India patent filing has created excitement among enthusiasts, industry expectations suggest the motorcycle may not launch in the country anytime soon.
