New Delhi: The mid-size sedan segment in the Indian automobile market is once again in the news. According to reports, Hyundai is working on a facelift for its popular sedan, the Verna, which has been spotted testing several times. Customers' opinions regarding the current model's design were divided, which also affected sales. In January 2026, the company failed to even surpass 1,000 units, while Volkswagen and Skoda sedans performed better.

Premium changes to interior

The interior revealed during testing indicates that the new Verna will be more premium than before. The Morse-code-style brand signature may replace the traditional logo on the steering wheel. Behind it, a large digital display setup will be located, including a digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment. A three-spoke steering, automatic transmission, and brushed aluminum inserts will give the cabin a modern look.

Cosmetic updates to exterior

The front design of the new Verna may see minor changes. The sleek LED DRLs and Horizon LED bar will remain, but the grille pattern may be new. Silver accents are expected on the front and rear bumpers, which will distinguish the Turbo variant in particular. The alloy wheel design is also being revised to give the car a fresh appeal.

Effects Focused on Safety and Comfort

The facelift model is expected to retain features like automatic climate control, ventilated seats, electric seat adjustment, leatherette upholstery, a 360-degree camera, an electric sunroof, and connected car technology. Advanced safety technologies like Level-2 ADAS are also expected, strengthening its competitiveness in the segment.

Engine and Expected Price

Engine options will remain unchanged. The 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1.5-liter turbo petrol unit will remain available, and could be offered with manual, IVT, and DCT gearbox options. The current price range is around ₹10.79 lakh to ₹17 lakh (ex-showroom), and the facelifted model is expected to be launched in the same range by the end of the year.

The updated design and feature package of the new Verna will determine whether this sedan becomes a customer favorite again.
