New Delhi: Tata Motors is set to launch a facelift version of its popular electric compact crossover, the Punch EV, on February 20. This will be the model's first major update since its 2024 debut. The company will soon reveal its official specifications, design changes, and new features. According to initial reports, the facelift model may feature limited but useful updates rather than major changes.

Major Focus on Battery and Range

The new Punch EV is likely to feature the larger 45kWh battery from the Nexon EV. This battery, combined with the electric motor, could produce approximately 145bhp and 215Nm of torque. The Nexon EV offers an ARAI range of approximately 489km with this same setup. Some reports also suggest the use of the older 40.5kWh battery pack, which could increase the Punch EV's range to approximately 500km. This longer range could make it a strong option in the budget electric car segment.

Premium features may be available in the cabin

The interior may see major changes. The 2026 Punch EV facelift is expected to feature a 12.3-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, Harman Kardon premium audio, a panoramic sunroof, and new upholstery and trim. These features will make it more premium and tech-friendly than before.

Minor Design Changes to the Exterior

Minor but attractive changes may be made to the exterior design. These could include a new grille, updated front and rear bumpers, connected LED DRLs, and new alloy wheels. However, the vehicle's dimensions will remain unchanged the length is expected to remain at 3857mm, width at 1742mm, and height at 1633mm.

Tata's Big EV Strategy in 2026

Following the Punch EV facelift, Tata Motors is preparing to launch the Sierra EV, which is expected to share the Harrier EV's powertrain. The company will then introduce its new premium electric sub-brand, Avinya, based on the Gen-3 electric platform. Avinya EVs are expected to feature advanced features like an advanced battery management system, integrated propulsion, ultra-fast charging, OTA updates, and new-generation ADAS.
