In 2023, this car was originally made public with a teaser image that included it with previous Land Cruiser series models, including the LC300, LC250 (Prado), and 70 Series. The business did not trademark the name "FJ" until after this. Since then fortuner lover were eagerly waiting for its release, especially those who could not afford the bigger one.

A 2.7-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine (2TR-FE) with an output of about 161 horsepower and 246 Nm of torque is probably going to be available as an engine option. With this engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 4WD (four-wheel drive) system, it will be fully prepared for off-road travel.
