What Is SIR Process?

Under SIR (Special Intensive Revision), new voters' names were added, deceased and duplicate entries were removed, and the addresses of voters who had transferred were updated. Following this process, the Commission prepared the final voter list.

65.63 Lakh Voters Deleted

According to Election Commission data, before the SIR began, there were a total of 78.969 million voters in Bihar. However, after the process began on June 25th and the draft list released on August 1st, the number of voters decreased to 72.45 million voters. This means that 65.63 lakh names were removed from the list during this period.

Objections and Claims

After the draft list was released, the Commission sent notices to approximately 3 lakh people. During this period, 2.17 lakh people applied to have their names deleted, while 16.93 lakh people applied to add new names.

Applications for New Voter Addition

From August 1st to September 1st, 1,656,886 people applied to add new names by filling out Form 6. During the claim-objection period, 36,475 applied to add names, and 217,049 applied to remove names.
