NDA dominates Rajya Sabha Polls in Bihar, Haryana and Odisha; Here are results from 10 States

New Delhi: The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has performed strongly in the Rajya Sabha elections held in various states across the country. The NDA has gained an edge in the elections held in Bihar, Haryana, and Odisha. According to the results announced late Monday night, the NDA won eight of the 11 seats in these states. The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) won one seat, while the contest in Haryana was close.

The process was underway for a total of 37 Rajya Sabha seats, but candidates had already been elected unopposed for most of these seats. Voting was held only for 11 seats in Bihar, Odisha, and Haryana.

Prominent Leaders Win in Bihar

Several prominent leaders won the Rajya Sabha elections in Bihar. Nitish Kumar, the state's longtime Chief Minister, and Nitin Naveen, the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, were elected to the Rajya Sabha. Union Minister Ramnath Thakur and Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha were also re-elected.

BJP's Shivesh Kumar has reached the Rajya Sabha for the first time. Meanwhile, incumbent MP Amarendra Dhari Singh lost the election. Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav claimed that he had the support of five AIMIM MLAs and one Bahujan Samaj Party MLA.

BJP Leads in Odisha Amid Cross-Voting

Five candidates contested for four seats in Odisha. Reports of cross-voting surfaced during the election. Despite this, the BJP won three seats.

Independent candidate Dilip Rai, supported by the BJP, also received the support of several MLAs. It was reported that at least five MLAs voted in his favor, including three Congress and two BJD MLAs.

BJP State President Manmohan Samal, sitting MP Sujit Kumar, BJD's Santrut Mishra, and former Union Minister Dilip Rai emerged victorious in the election.

Close-cut Contest in Haryana

The contest for two Rajya Sabha seats in Haryana was intense. Counting of votes was delayed after the voting, with both the BJP and Congress alleging a violation of the secrecy of the vote.

Finally, in the late-night results, BJP's Sanjay Bhatia and Congress's Karamveer Singh Baudh were declared victorious. Karamveer Singh Baudh defeated BJP-backed independent candidate Satish Nandal by just three votes.

Candidates elected unopposed in several states

Candidates reached the Rajya Sabha unopposed in several states. In Maharashtra, all seven candidates were elected unopposed, six from the Mahayuti alliance and one from the Maha Vikas Aghadi.

In West Bengal, four Trinamool Congress candidates and BJP leader Rahul Sinha were elected unopposed. In Telangana, Congress's Abhishek Singhvi and Vem Narendra Reddy were elected unopposed. In Tamil Nadu, six candidates won unopposed, while Congress's Anurag Sharma reached the Rajya Sabha in Himachal Pradesh.
