Patna: The arrest of Purnea MP Pappu Yadav in connection with an old criminal case dating back to 1995 has sparked political and legal turmoil in Patna. When police arrived at his residence to take him into custody, a high-voltage atmosphere prevailed for a considerable time. During his detention, Pappu Yadav expressed concern for his health and safety, stating that he did not know what would happen to him next.

What Pappu Yadav Said During His Arrest

In a media interaction, Pappu Yadav stated that he was ill and feeling scared. He alleged that the police arrived at his home in plain clothes, making him feel as if a criminal gang had arrived. He questioned the need for an arrest now in a nearly 35-year-old case. He also stated that he could have been placed under house arrest if desired and was ready to appear in court.

Taken to Hospital for a Health Check-up

Following his arrest, the police admitted him to Patna's IGIMS Hospital for a health check-up. According to police officials, his medications have been arranged and his caretaker is present. After the medical examination was completed, he was to be taken to the police station for further legal proceedings.

Police's Position and Legal Status

Patna City SP Bhanu Pratap Singh stated that the case was registered in 1995, under sections 419, 420, 468, 448, 506, and 120B of the old Indian Penal Code. The case is linked to the Gardanibagh police station and the trial is ongoing. According to the police, the MP failed to appear in court on the scheduled date, which led to his arrest.
