This decline was recorded compared to the previous trading session's closing level of 81,537.70. It is noteworthy that the market was closed on Monday due to Republic Day.
Meanwhile, the Nifty 50 also opened weak and slipped 20.90 points or 0.08 percent to 25,027.75. In early trade, banking, IT and auto stocks witnessed mild selling pressure, while select midcap and smallcap stocks witnessed mixed trend.

Global markets offered mixed signals. US stocks rose overnight, supported by expectations of stable Federal Reserve policy and strong results from major companies. Meanwhile, Asian markets remained uncertain as a warning of higher tariffs on South Korea renewed concerns about trade tariffs.
Commodity market situation
The picture in the commodity market was also mixed. Gold remained firm above $5,000 per ounce amid geopolitical tensions, while crude oil prices softened.
Several structural reasons are being cited for the continued weakness in Indian stock markets. Continued selling by foreign investors, pressure on the rupee, weak third-quarter results so far, and uncertainty regarding the India-US trade agreement have impacted investor sentiment. A clear improvement in corporate earnings and positive signals from trade negotiations are considered necessary to restore stability and confidence in the market.

The market remains weak from a technical perspective as well. For the Nifty, the 25,200 to 25,300 levels remain an immediate hurdle, while the 25,000 level is considered a key support. If this support breaks, the decline could deepen. However, select stocks could see short-term gains due to oversold conditions.
