Mumbai: A security scare was reported at the venue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled event in Mumbai after two people were detained by the Mumbai Police. A firearm was also recovered from one of them, officials said.

The incident took place at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), where PM Modi’s programme was scheduled.

According to Mumbai Police, a man was noticed moving suspiciously near the event venue. Security personnel immediately alerted the police, following which the individual was detained along with his bodyguard.

Fake PMO Identity Card Recovered

Police identified the detained man as 24-year-old Rohan Parekh. During the investigation, officials found that he was allegedly carrying a fake Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) identity card.

A gun was also recovered from his bodyguard, police said. The authorities are now investigating the purpose behind their presence at the high-security venue.

Police Begin Investigation

Mumbai Police have started questioning both individuals to establish the circumstances leading to their arrival at the event location.

Security arrangements were already heightened due to Prime Minister Modi’s visit, and officials are examining all details related to the incident.
