New Delhi: A woman has been arrested in Delhi after allegedly hurling racial slurs and derogatory remarks at three women from Arunachal Pradesh living as tenants in the city’s Malviya Nagar area.

According to the Delhi Police, the accused, Ruby Jain, was taken into custody following the incident, which triggered outrage after videos of the altercation circulated widely on social media.

Police said the case is now being investigated by an officer of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) rank and senior officials are closely monitoring the probe.

SC/ST Act Added To FIR

Officials confirmed that additional sections under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have been included in the FIR registered at the Malviya Nagar Police Station.

The police said that the inclusion of these provisions has led to the investigation being transferred to a higher-ranking officer. Authorities are also examining the role of Jain’s husband, Harsh Singh, in connection with the incident.

Dispute Began Over House Repairs

The incident reportedly occurred on February 20 when an argument broke out between the accused and the three tenants over repair work at the rented accommodation.

During the altercation, Jain allegedly made racially abusive comments towards the women. Videos of the confrontation quickly went viral online, prompting police to begin an investigation. Officials said the footage is being examined as part of the ongoing probe.
