Bengaluru: The brutal murder of former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash has shaken the entire state. In such a situation, let us know what is this whole case and who was Om Prakash
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, his body was recovered from his house in HSR Layout, Bengaluru on Sunday. Initial investigation has revealed that the perpetrator of this crime is none other than his wife. This horrific murder was carried out due to domestic dispute. Police have taken Om Prakash's wife into custody in this case and interrogation is going on.
According to reports, there was a heated argument between Om Prakash and his wife on Sunday afternoon. The reason for the dispute is said to be differences over property. It is being said that Om Prakash had transferred a part of his property to one of his relatives, due to which his wife was very angry.
The argument escalated to such an extent that the matter reached violence. Police investigation has revealed that during the argument, the wife threw chilli powder on Om Prakash, tied him up and attacked him several times with a sharp weapon.
Not only this, he was also attacked with a glass bottle, due to which Om Prakash was seriously injured and died on the spot.
Om Prakash not only held the top post of Karnataka Police, but he had an image across the country as a respected and sharp officer. He was originally from Champaran district of Bihar.
The former DGP had an M.Sc. degree in Geology. He joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1981 after clearing the UPSC exam. During his career, he held important positions such as Superintendent of Police, DIG, IG, and ADG in several districts of Karnataka. On March 1, 2015, he was appointed Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka. He retired from the police service in 2017 and was living with his family in Bengaluru since then.
