Two Australian women cricketers participating in the ICC Women’s World Cup were stalked and one molested by a biker in Indore. Police acted swiftly, arresting the accused, Akil Khan, and registering a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Australian Women Cricketers Molested During Morning Walk
Indore: Two Australian women players, who had come to participate in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, were staying in a hotel in Indore. On Thursday morning both the players were walking from their hotel to a nearby cafe. Meanwhile, a person riding a motorcycle started chasing them.
According to the police, the accused first chased both the players and then molested one of them inappropriately. The man fled on the motorcycle immediately after the incident. All this happened in the Khajrana Road area of Indore, which is considered a busy area of the city.

Both the players contacted their team security officer Danny Simmons without any delay. They immediately coordinated with local security officials and sent aid to the players. This quick action ensured that both players could return to the hotel safely.
As soon as information about the incident was received, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Himani Mishra met both the players, recorded their statements, and filed an FIR (Primary Information Report).

Case registered under a section of the Indian Justice Code (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) in the MIG police station. The case has been registered under 74 (use of force to violate the modesty of a woman) and 78 (stalking or stalking).
An eyewitness (bystander) had noted down the number of the motorcycle of the accused. On the basis of this information, the police arrested the accused, Akil Khan. According to officials, several criminal cases are already registered against him.
At present the police are interrogating him and trying to find out whether he has been involved in any other similar incident. This case not only raises questions on the safety of foreign players but also shows that women's safety is still a serious concern in India.
