A Kanpur court granted bail to Shivam Mishra in the Lamborghini crash case, rejecting the police’s remand plea. The defense called it a minor accident caused by technical failure, while questioning the legality of the arrest and investigation process.

Court Grants Bail on ₹20,000 Bond and Undertaking
Kanpur: In the high-profile Kanpur Lamborghini accident case, accused Shivam Mishra has been granted bail by the court. He has been released on a personal bond of ₹20,000 along with an undertaking of ₹20,000. The court also rejected the police’s request for his custodial remand.
Shivam Mishra’s lawyer, Naresh Chandra Tripathi, stated that the court refused to grant remand and ordered his release on the specified bond and undertaking. The lawyer alleged that the police had acted under government pressure and wrongfully arrested his client.
According to the defense counsel, the incident was a minor accident caused by a technical fault in the luxury car. He claimed that only one person suffered minor injuries and that a settlement had already been reached with the injured party.
The lawyer further argued that the matter was exaggerated because the vehicle involved was an expensive Lamborghini and Shivam Mishra belongs to a prominent business family. He suggested that this led to unnecessary pressure from authorities.
The defense claimed that the police sought a 14-day remand but failed to justify the grounds for arrest when questioned by the court. According to the lawyer, the police stated that Mishra was not cooperating with the investigation. However, when the court asked since when they had been attempting to question him, the police reportedly failed to provide a clear answer.
The court observed that in cases carrying a punishment of less than seven years, arrest provisions must be strictly followed. Finding inconsistencies in the police’s justification, the court rejected the remand plea and granted bail.
The lawyer further alleged that Shivam Mishra was not served any prior notice, despite legal provisions requiring at least three notices before arrest in such cases. He claimed that the police did not attempt proper questioning and acted under political and external pressure.
He also stated that Mishra was arrested from Delhi, contradicting claims that he was apprehended in Kanpur. The defense raised concerns about Mishra’s health, stating that he suffers from high blood pressure and elevated sugar levels, which could pose serious risks.
Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco businessman K.K. Mishra, is accused of driving a high-speed Lamborghini that allegedly hit an auto-rickshaw and a Bullet motorcycle, injuring four people.
The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon on VIP Road in Kanpur’s Gwaltoli area. The Lamborghini reportedly lost control, collided with the vehicles, and then mounted the फुटpath. Chaos followed as locals gathered at the scene.
Eyewitnesses claimed that security personnel from another car following the Lamborghini attempted to remove the driver, triggering anger among bystanders. The car’s window was reportedly broken before the driver was taken to a private hospital.
