New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called on National Democratic Alliance (NDA) lawmakers to guide young people instead of provoking them, a day after protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination intensified in the national capital.
Addressing the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting at the G.M.C. Balayogi Auditorium in the Parliament Library Building, the Prime Minister said leaders have a responsibility to show students the right direction.
Speaking at the meeting, Modi said, "Do not incite children, show them the right path." He added that while it is easy for young people to stray, bringing them back onto the right path is much more difficult.

According to Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, the Prime Minister also said the government acted promptly after reports of irregularities in the NEET-UG examination emerged.
Rijiju told reporters that those found responsible for the paper leak had faced action and reiterated the government's commitment to maintaining the integrity of competitive examinations.
The Prime Minister's comments came a day after large-scale protests in Delhi over the NEET-UG 2026 controversy. The demonstration was led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which has been demanding accountability over the alleged examination irregularities.
On Monday, a CJP delegation met Union Minister JP Nadda and submitted a memorandum outlining its demands. These included compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the paper leak controversy, the resignation of the Union Education Minister, and the release of activist Sonam Wangchuk.

During the NDA meeting, Modi also urged political parties to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament despite ideological differences. Rijiju said the Prime Minister appealed for constructive debate in the House, stressing that Parliament should function in the interest of the people.
The Monsoon Session has begun amid continued political exchanges over the NEET-UG issue, with the controversy expected to remain a key subject in Parliament in the coming days.
