Patna Court Reserves Verdict on Khan Sir’s Bail
New Delhi: A court in Patna on Monday reserved its decision on the anticipatory bail application filed by educator Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, in connection with a firing and vandalism case linked to his coaching institute earlier this month.
The popular teacher and content creator approached the court seeking protection from arrest after police named him in a First Information Report (FIR) registered following an incident outside Khan Global Studies Institute on June 2.
After the hearing, Khan Sir’s counsel, Arvind Kumar Mahuar, said arguments had been presented before the court and the matter was now awaiting a judicial decision.
According to the defence, the case against Khan Sir is based on allegations that lack direct evidence linking him to the disturbance. The lawyer argued that the FIR was filed with the intention of damaging his client’s public image and reputation.
Mahuar also claimed that the case emerged after staff members associated with Khan Global Studies had previously lodged a complaint against the head of another coaching institute.
The defence maintained that Khan Sir had no direct involvement in the events that led to the police action and should not be held responsible for the alleged acts committed by others.
The controversy relates to an incident in which shots were allegedly fired outside the coaching institute during a disturbance involving vandalism. Following the episode, police registered a case under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
Investigators later recovered a video that allegedly showed two individuals firing shots into the air after the vandalism. The suspects seen in the footage were identified, detained and questioned by authorities.
Police said the firearms recovered during the investigation have been sent for forensic examination.
Meanwhile, the reports indicate that journalist Anjana Om Kashyap and TV Today Network have filed a defamation suit against Khan Sir before the Delhi High Court. The suit reportedly concerns remarks allegedly made by him regarding coverage related to “star teachers” and seeks removal of the disputed comments.
The Patna court is expected to deliver its order on the anticipatory bail plea at a later date.
