New Delhi: The Bombay High Court has advised actor Salman Khan’s neighbour in Panvel to consider removing social media posts and videos related to an ongoing dispute involving the actor’s farmhouse property.
During a hearing on Thursday, Justice Sharmila Deshmukh observed that being active on social media does not justify publishing defamatory content against any individual, including public figures. The court noted that disputes of this nature should be addressed through appropriate legal channels rather than online platforms.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for July 6, 2026.
The matter stems from allegations made by Ketan Kakkad, Salman Khan’s neighbour, who has accused the actor of violating environmental regulations during the construction of his Panvel farmhouse. He has also alleged obstruction of access to a road leading to his property.
In response, Salman Khan filed a defamation suit, claiming that videos and posts shared by Kakkad on platforms such as X and YouTube were damaging to his reputation and included communally sensitive content.
The court expressed concern over the repeated circulation of disputed content on social media, noting that such material is consuming judicial time and complicating legal proceedings. It also suggested that Kakkad consider voluntarily removing the posts and videos linked to the dispute.
The case has also involved major digital platforms, including Facebook, X, Google, and YouTube, which have been made parties to the proceedings due to the nature of content dissemination online.
The dispute revolves around neighbouring properties in Panvel, where Kakkad alleges environmental violations and restricted access caused by Salman Khan’s farmhouse development. He claims to have raised complaints with authorities, but no corrective action was taken.
Salman Khan, on the other hand, maintains that the online content has harmed his image and is part of a broader defamation issue now under judicial review.
On the professional front, Salman Khan is set to appear in the upcoming war drama Maatrubhumi, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, alongside Chitrangda Singh. He was last seen in a cameo role in Raja Shivaji and earlier in Sikandar (2025), directed by A.R. Murugadoss.
