Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Ramayana has generated considerable interest among moviegoers, with advance ticket sales gathering momentum ahead of its theatrical debut. The ambitious mythological drama has recorded advance bookings worth approximately Rs 4.88 crore, with around 85,000 tickets sold across the country, according to box-office tracking figures reported on October 21.

The early numbers underline the anticipation surrounding the film, which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on November 5, 2026. The project, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is among the most eagerly awaited Indian film releases of the year.

The advance booking figures also highlight the premium that audiences may have to pay for select screenings, with tickets for certain high-end cinema seats in Mumbai priced as high as Rs 2,770.

Premium IMAX 3D Screenings Command High Prices

Some of the highest ticket prices have been recorded at premium multiplexes in Mumbai. Recliner seats for select IMAX 3D screenings at PVR ICON in Phoenix Palladium, Lower Parel, have been listed at Rs 2,770.

The pricing reflects the demand for premium-format screenings of a film expected to be mounted on a grand visual scale. Special screenings scheduled around the film’s opening days have attracted attention because of their steep ticket rates.

While premium formats account for a smaller proportion of available shows, they contribute significantly to the film’s early box-office collections.

Hindi Version Drives Advance Sales

The Hindi version has emerged as the principal contributor to the film’s advance booking revenue, accounting for the overwhelming share of reported collections. Kannada and Telugu versions have also registered bookings, although their contributions remain considerably smaller.

The early sales figures offer an initial indication of audience interest, though the final opening-day performance will depend on the expansion of bookings, the number of screenings available and audience response after release.

Ranbir Kapoor to Play Lord Rama

Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol is set to portray Hanuman, while the supporting cast includes several established actors.

Conceived as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic, the film seeks to bring the story of Rama to the big screen on an expansive scale. The first instalment is scheduled for release on November 5, with the second part planned for a subsequent release.

With advance bookings already generating substantial revenue, the film’s opening weekend will be closely watched for an indication of whether the initial enthusiasm translates into a strong theatrical performance.
