New Delhi: At the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025, Ranveer Singh mimicked a scene from actor Rishab Shetty's film "Kaantara Chapter 1." His intention was merely to praise Shetty's performance, but after the video went viral on social media, he faced accusations of hurting religious sentiments. On Tuesday, Ranveer shared a post on his Instagram story and apologized to the public.
Ranveer wrote, "My intention was to highlight Rishab Shetty's tremendous performance in the film. I know how much time and effort went into that particular scene. I deeply appreciate it. I have always respected every culture, tradition, and belief of my country. If I have hurt anyone's sentiments, I sincerely apologize."

Last Friday, at the closing ceremony of IFFI, Ranveer expressed his desire to work in Kaantara 3. He mimicked a scene from the film, which sparked controversy on social media. The video appeared to show Ranveer mocking the goddess Chavundi (Chamunda). This angered many users and religious groups, who alleged that Ranveer insulted religious sentiments.
