New Delhi: Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s horror-comedy Thamma has achieved a major milestone at the box office, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in worldwide earnings within just five days of its release.

Produced under the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU), the film opened on Diwali with a strong response and has since been witnessing a promising recovery over the weekend after a mid-week dip.

Domestic Collections See Weekend Surge

After a steady start on Diwali, Thamma’s domestic earnings saw a notable boost on Saturday, registering a 30% increase compared to Friday. On Day 5, the film netted Rs 13 crore, up from Rs 10 crore on Day 4. This surge has taken its total domestic net collection to Rs 78.60 crore, equivalent to Rs 94.25 crore gross, in just five days.

The film had opened at Rs 24 crore net on Diwali, a solid start that, while not record-breaking, demonstrated strong initial interest. Collections dipped slightly over the next three weekdays, which is common for festive releases post-Diwali.

However, with the weekend bringing audiences back to theaters, Thamma appears to be regaining momentum. Analysts expect the numbers to rise further on Sunday, signaling the film’s sustained appeal.

Overseas Performance Picks Up

Thamma’s performance in international markets started off slowly, largely because most countries outside India do not celebrate Diwali, and the film could not benefit from the holiday crowd. Nevertheless, the film has steadily picked up pace over Thursday through Saturday, showing growing interest among overseas audiences.

According to trade estimates, the film has earned just under $2 million overseas, which, combined with domestic collections, takes its worldwide total to Rs 110 crore by Saturday. The film’s steady growth abroad indicates a positive reception among the Indian diaspora and international viewers alike.

Thamma Beats Bhediya, Eyes Munjya

Crossing the Rs 100 crore mark, Thamma has become the fourth horror comedy from Maddock Films to achieve this feat, following in the footsteps of Stree, Stree 2, and Munjya. Notably, it has also surpassed the lifetime worldwide collections of Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon’s Bhediya, which had earned Rs 95 crore globally in 2022.

With a worldwide total of Rs 110 crore and counting, Thamma is now aiming to surpass Munjya, which collected Rs 132 crore last year. This performance highlights the growing audience appetite for horror-comedy films within the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.

About Thamma

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma features Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as vampires, with Ayushmann Khurrana playing a journalist caught in the middle of their supernatural clash. The film has been widely appreciated for its humor, suspense, and strong performances, receiving largely positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.

The film also includes cameos from other actors within the MHCU, including Varun Dhawan, adding to its universe-building appeal. Fans have praised the seamless integration of horror and comedy elements, making Thamma a standout addition to the franchise.

With strong domestic numbers, an improving overseas response, and a milestone-crossing global collection, Thamma has firmly established itself as one of the biggest hits of 2025 so far. Its performance underscores the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe’s growing popularity, proving that audiences are eager for films that blend humor with horror in an engaging way.
