New Delhi: More than five years have passed since the Corona pandemic. The coronavirus, which spread in the last months of 2019, is still raising people's concern from time to time. Another wave of infection was also seen in the month of May-June this year, although the situation is currently under control.
Health experts have been calling vaccination the most effective way to protect against the coronavirus, although side-effects caused by the vaccine have also been a constant concern.
Since the beginning of the global vaccination campaign, the side effects caused by the Covid-19 vaccine have been discussed in hushed voices.
In another recent study, health experts have warned about the problems caused by the vaccine. This time, people have been warned about the side-effects of the Pfizer vaccine. Many people who have been vaccinated with this vaccine have seen serious problems related to the eyes, which can even lead to blindness.
The study was conducted by a team of Turkish scientists. Experts have raised concerns that Pfizer-BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine could cause serious side effects on the cornea of the eye. The study examined changes in the corneas of at least 64 patients before and after receiving both doses of the vaccine. Scientists said that many people who took these vaccines have complained of serious problems related to the eyes.
The study published in the journal Ophthalmic Epidemiology, noted that although people did not have immediate eye problems after receiving the vaccine, it was noted that many people's corneas became thicker than normal after vaccination, the number of endothelial cells decreased and many structural changes were also seen. This can lead to serious eye problems over time.
These changes suggest that the Pfizer vaccine may temporarily weaken the endothelium, the researchers said. Endothelium, the cornea is a layer of cells located on the inner surface, which plays an important role in maintaining the moisture and transparency of the cornea.
For these results, the team included 64 people in the study and their eye conditions were examined before and after vaccination.
The team conducted a detailed study about 75 days after receiving the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The findings showed that some people complained of problems related to the cornea.
"Although the sample size of this study is small, we need more detailed research to confirm the results, although the findings cannot be ignored," the experts said.
