New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-nation visit to the United Kingdom and the Maldives from July 23 to 26, 2025. This will be PM Modi's fourth official visit to the UK, reports Dyanmite News correspondent.
After the UK, PM Modi will pay an official visit to Maldives, which will take place from July 25-26, 2025. Prime Minister Modi is visiting the Maldives at the invitation of President Dr. Mohamed Moizu. This will be PM Modi's third visit to the Maldives. and this be PM Modi's first visit to Maldives as the Prime Minister.
PM Modi will hold talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on bilateral relations, regional, and global issues.
He is also expected to meet King Charles III.
The two countries will review the progress of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on trade, economy, technology, innovation, security, climate change, health, education, and people-to-people ties.
A significant outcome of the visit is likely to be the signing of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement, aimed at doubling bilateral trade to $120 billion by 2030.
This will be PM Modi's third visit to the Maldives and his first as Prime Minister.
At the 60th Independence Day celebrations of Maldives on July 26, PM Modi will be the Chief Guest here.
He will hold bilateral talks with President Mohamed Muizzu to review the progress of the India-Maldives Joint Economic and Maritime Security Agreement, signed in October 2024.
The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between India and the Maldives, reaffirming India's 'Neighbourhood First' policy.
Relations between India and Maldives deteriorated after Muizzu became president. The reason for this was the 'India Out "campaign. Some Maldivian leaders were speaking against India. Muizu was more inclined towards China. Now Muizzu wants to improve relations with India.
This is a good opportunity to travel. This will resolve all issues between the two countries. Cooperation can be improved. India will show its commitment to its' Neighbourhood First 'policy. PM Modi last visited the Maldives in June 2019. Muizzu had come to India in October last year. This was his first visit to India after becoming the President.
PM Modi is scheduled to visit China next month to attend the 25th China-India Summit and the SCO summit.
