‘Growing cities need accessible cleanness,’ Shallu Jindal on mobile sanitation unit launch

Jindal Foundation, in partnership with Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, launched a fully equipped Mobile Sanitation Unit in Bhubaneswar to enhance hygiene during public events and festivals.

Bhubaneswar: With the aim of strengthening public sanitation in the city, the Jindal Foundation and the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) have jointly launched a state-of-the-art mobile sanitation unit. This truck-mounted facility will provide clean and accessible toilets during large public events, festivals, and crowded gatherings.

The unit was donated by the Jindal Foundation, while the BMC will be responsible for its operation and maintenance.

Distinguished Guests Flagged Off

Jindal Foundation Chairperson Shallu Jindal and BMC Mayor Sulochana Das jointly flagged off the vehicle at an event held in Bhubaneswar. Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar, BMC Commissioner Chanchal Rana (IAS), Additional Commissioner Kailash Chandra Das, along with several senior officials and councilors were present on the occasion.

Emphasis on Cleanliness and Dignity

Addressing the event, Shallu Jindal said that clean and dignified sanitation facilities are essential for building a healthy and inclusive society. She said, "At Jindal Foundation, we strongly believe that access to clean and dignified sanitation is essential for building healthy and inclusive communities. As cities continue to grow and host large public events, the need for accessible sanitation facilities becomes even more important. This Mobile Sanitation Unit is a step towards supporting Bhubaneswar’s vision of a cleaner and more citizen-friendly city, and we are pleased to partner with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation in this meaningful initiative."

Mayor Sulochana Das expressed her gratitude to the Jindal Foundation, saying that this mobile unit will prove extremely useful for citizens and visitors during large events and cultural programs.

Unit Equipped with Modern Facilities

This mobile sanitation unit has been specially designed keeping in mind the needs of men and women.

Male section: One Western toilet, one Indian toilet, three urinals, and one wash basin.

Female section: Two Indian toilets, one Western toilet, and one wash basin.

In addition, power backup from a diesel generator has been arranged for uninterrupted operation. Exhaust fans have been installed in each section to ensure proper ventilation and a clean environment.

Over 100 Workers Present

Over 100 sanitation workers, councilors, BMC officials, and local citizens attended the event. Rishi Pathania, CSR Head of Jindal Steel, concluded the event with a vote of thanks.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of Jindal Foundation and BMC to promote cleanliness in the city and provide better public amenities to the citizens.
