New Delhi: "There is no rivalry between India and Pakistan matches anymore," the golden words spoken by the Indian skipper must have reverberated across Pakistan, especially for Haris Rauf, who could not bowl better for his team and got smashed for fours and sixes by Indian stalwarts Shubham Gill and Abhishek Sharma, got frustrated in the middle of the match, and when he got smashed for four by Shubhman Gill, he vented out his anger on the field.

But little did he know that this Indian team is led by the one who has shown Pakistan its true worth to the world, not once, but every time he played against them; be it Shahid Afridi or Kamran Akmal, he did not spare anyone. And the world witnessed the same passion and aggression against Pakistan in the eyes of prodigious Gill and Sharma.

How did the argument begin?

India was set a target of 172 runs. Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill came to the crease as Indian openers. Abhishek hit a six off Shaheen Shah Afridi on the very first ball of the match. This was a special moment in itself, as no one had ever hit a six off Shaheen Shah Afridi in his first over in a T20 International.

After Abhishek's shot, Shaheen glared at him, and it appeared that there was some exchange between the two. Instead of backing down, Abhishek responded.

Why did the argument between Rauf and Abhishek escalate?

The atmosphere of the match was already heated, and Haris Rauf came in to bowl the fifth over. He had already conceded 12 runs in his first over and appeared to be under pressure.

Shubman Gill hit a four off his bowling, and a few words were exchanged. Then Abhishek Sharma, standing at the non-striker's end, quickly moved forward and confronted Rauf. The camera clearly showed the two arguing.

Before things got out of hand, the umpire and other players intervened and calmed them down.

The video went viral

The video of this altercation is rapidly going viral on social media. People are reacting to it in a variety of ways—some are praising Abhishek's confidence, while others are hoping for restraint from the players.

Haris Rauf's '6-0' and "crash plane" gesture

And the cheap Rauf did not stop here. During India's innings, while Haris Rauf was fielding on the boundary, some Indian spectators began booing him. Rauf's response to this immediately became a topic of discussion on social media.

Haris Rauf looked at the crowd and flashed "6-0" with his hands—six fingers with one hand and a zero with the other. He then made a gesture resembling a plane flying in the air and then showed it crashing—as if it had fallen from the sky.

What did this gesture mean?

People directly linked this gesture to the bogus claims made by the timid Pakistani Air Force, which Pakistan claims shot down six Indian fighter jets (mostly French Rafales) in May.

And the most preposterous thing is that it's the same army that had tweeted, "Sleep tight because IAF is awake," before the Balakot strike. It is the same army that could not save à„‚the terror hideout of its terrorist pups.

Haris Rauf: Another dolt in making

Nevertheless, he is the same Haris Rauf who didn’t even spare his own fan in the USA — all for a selfie. When he couldn’t handle the criticism, he called the fan an Indian, even though the fan was actually a Pakistani himself.

Match Result: India's Resounding Victory

Although this debate dominated the headlines, India maintained complete control of the match. The team won the match by 6 wickets with 7 balls remaining.

With this win, India reached the top of the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 points table. India earned 2 points and a net run rate of +0.689, which is better than the other teams.

This match was not just about cricket but also about emotions and pressure. While the Indian batsmen displayed strength, Abhishek Sharma's altercation with Rauf showed that the young players are now full of confidence and are no less than anyone on the field.
